Baby Spa Perth, extreme level of cuteness

Baby Spa Perth is a sanctuary for babies (newborn to six months) and their parents, offering unique hydrotherapy sessions, baby massage and support. The Baby Spa is the only facility in the world that uses their own patented BUBBY® – a specially designed floatation device that supports babies in the water, allowing them freedom of movement that they would otherwise not experience.

Baby Spa Perth Co-Director Kavita Kumar is passionate about child development in early years and holds a degree in Health Promotion and Children and Family Development with a decade of hands-on experience working in the health sector both in Australia and the UK.

Living in Notting Hill, London for the for the last 10 years Kavita felt it was important to share some of the unique services offered to mothers there after personally experiencing the numerous benefits of infant hydrotherapy at Baby Spa London with her son Nadal. Soon after she began training with Laura Sevenus and later became an accredited Infant Massage Instructor training at the International Association of Infant Massage going on to establish Baby Spa Perth.

What is Hydrotherapy ?

Hydrotherapy (flotation and exercise in water) supports mental and physical development and the development of your baby’s ability to move with control and act with purpose on land. The more your baby can use his/her brain and muscles, the stronger they will grow. At Baby Spa Perth, your baby will find the freedom and space he/she needs to progress and, most importantly, have fun as they learn at their own pace.

As your baby kicks around in the water, the small rocking waves he/she creates will help to improve their balance and coordination and, ultimately, support their ability to crawl, walk and swim. Even if your baby falls asleep in the water the rocking will continue with his/her rhythmic breathing.

The sensation of floating in warm water puts babies completely at ease and can promote a number of key benefits:

  • Muscular and skeletal strength is increased through the water’s gentle resistance
  • Movement through the water has a positive effect on the digestive and circulatory systems, which can reduce meconium levels and lowers the risk of jaundice three or four days after birth

  • Subtle water pressure on the chest can increase lung capacity by strengthening intercostal muscles and the respiratory system
  • Regular visits can benefit the cardiovascular system
  • Innate swimming reflexes are stimulated and co-ordination is developed as they learn to control their movements
