Billboards which cleans air

In India we have just launched the BS4 norms and as usual we are trailing when related with the pollution norms when compared to so many foreign countries. Recently something like that happened U.S.A.

As part of the promotion of Toyota’s new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle Toyota Mirai,  one of the first such vehicles to be sold commercially. The billboards used for the promotion of Toyota Mirai not just do the advertising but it actually clean the air around them.

The billboards are coated with a titanium dioxide-coated vinyl which reacts with oxygen, converting nitrogen oxide emissions to nitrates and removing them from the air. Only light, humidity and natural air is all that this billboard requires to keep it functional. Toyota will put up 37 billboards around Los Angeles and San Francisco. It’s estimated that the billboards will remove the equivalent of 5,285 vehicles’ worth of nitrogen oxide emissions from the air each month. The Mirai is based on the Toyota FCV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) concept car, which was unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The unveiled FCV concept was a bright blue sedan shaped like a drop of water “to emphasize that water is the only substance that hydrogen-powered cars emit from their tailpipes.
