Do for others is a concept which is powered and initiated by the all women league Kerala led by Bindhu Satyajith, Sujatha Menon, Karthika Nair and Asha G Nair. It was started by establishing 72 bio toilets in Kuttanadu village in Alapuzha district which is a place which got affected by the initial rains. The project was done under the leadership of the Alapuzha District collector Mr. S. Suhas and other representatives from the Alapuzha District administration. As part of the project 72 bio toilet were equipped within a short span of 72 hours. The honorable District collector of Alapuzha claimed it as the first of its kind activity in the entire country. It was a challenging task as the roads were all submerged and the bio toilets were transported to the respective locations in boats and barges.
Later the rain got heavier and as a result almost 26 dams across Kerala were opened which raised the water level in many area which shared proximity with the rivers and dams. Districts like Palakkad, Wayanad, Idukki, Aluva were few places which got badly affected. It’s on this context that a group was formed naming it Do for others and their motive was to extend help and support to the people living in all
the rain and flood affected areas across Kerala. They started off with a small group of less than ten which gradually grew bigger and now they are having more than 200 plus volunteers from different parts of the country. Do for others now have collection centers in Kerala, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai etc. People in these places gathered themselves into small group and collected the supplies and transported it to Kerala by trucks. Big names like Aditya Birla, The Chennai silks, ITC etc came up with support.

A group from Bengaluru under Sri Shakti Kalyana Mahaganapathy temple led by Mr. Ashok Betraj dispatched a truck full of supplies to Wayanad which included 5000 Chapattis cooked and donated by a single man whose name is Kamal. Kamal from Bengaluru cooked the chapattis on Sunday and the next morning it reached Wayanad as the breakfast of thousands of people living in various relief camps situated in the district. This is what we all should realize to live for others to help others. The Bengaluru team is still collecting the materials and you can contact in the numbers provided below this feature.
