Biopic on Neil Armstrong

La La Land director Damien Chazelle has announced a new biopic based on the life of Neil Armstrong. He may not have taken home the best picture Oscar for the musical, but becoming the youngest ever recipient of the best director award at this year’s ceremony has made the 32-year-old the talk of the town around Hollywood. Now, Universal Pictures has announced a release date for his next project. First Man will focus on the NASA legend’s life in the 1960s, when the US was in a fierce space race with Russia. The film will see Chazelle reuniting with his La La Land star Ryan Gosling, who has been confirmed to play the first astronaut on the Moon.

The film is based on James Hansen’s biography First Man: The Life Of Neil A Armstrong, and has been penned by the Oscar-winning writer of Spotlight. According to the studio, First Man will explore the sacrifices and the cost of one of the most dangerous space missions in history.

It will hit cinemas on 12 October 2018. Further details are yet to be released.
