You might have heard about the biggest party or the largest party but it would be new information to know that there can be highest party too. And for your information the highest party on the planet earth was hosted by British DJ Paul Oakenfold. Before getting deep into the story lets first learn who Paul Oakenfold is.
Paul Oakenfold is a two time Grammy Award and two time World Music Awards nominee. He was voted the No. 1 DJ in the World twice in 1998 and 1999 by DJ Magazine. Paul has provided over 100 remixes for over 100 artists including U2, Moby, Madonna, Massive Attack, New Order, The Rolling Stones and The Stone Roses.
Paul who is 53 now climbed to Mount Everest’s base camp on April 11th, 2017, where he hosted the “highest DJ party on the planet”, who performed a EDM set at 5,380 meters (17,600 feet). This high altitude DJ party was hosted as part of the Soundtrek series, which was launched by Paul to take electronic dance music into the remote and rough terrains. He has already conducted shows at the Great Wall of China and Ushuaia, which is known as the southernmost tip of the world.
In this tour to Everest Paul Oakenfold also managed to do some fund raising for the 2015 Nepal Earthquake. He also interacted with the local people and interacted with their culture and customs spending time with them. He also donated his DJ equipment to a local DJ school in Kathmandu.
The trip was done under prior preparations as Paul had do undergo 4 months of training with a strict schedule of diet and exercise. The mountaineering part was led under the supervision of British mountaineer Kenton Cool. It was a ten day trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp. Ranzen Jha, a Nepali DJ also accompanied Paul on this dream tour.
