To speak about the Do for others activity in Chennai, if you visit the Naturals lounge located in South Boag road at T nagar, you will understand the dedication and hard work those people are putting to collect things, segregate and pack it in the right manner. The activities there are spearheaded by Eswar. Being a Sunday it’s supposed to be a crowded place with clients but the dedicated people over there put all their work aside and is working round the clock for the sake of people in Kerala.
There is Priya Mahalingam from Nungambakkam and Lizzy from Mahabalipuram who is also helping in coordinating the Chennai activities. Anil Srinivasan, a renowned musician in the city, who not only donated a decent amount to the relief fund, but also helped to gather his groups which they had formed during Chennai floods and provided us many support and help.
As of now Do for others is concentrating on the rebuilding activities at the affected areas concentrating Wayanad as its the district which was very much affected by the land slides due to the geographical features of that place. Do for others volunteers is camping at Mananthavadi Vetinery hospital under the leadership of Dr. Lekshmi, Geethu Jyothish and Rafi who also facilitates the transport activity from various part of the state. They are providing the essential goods like utensils, vessels, containers, stoves, Phenols etc to the families who are affected by the flood so that they can restart their life at own homes. Also they are collecting cattle feeds like pellets and dry hay as the cattle in those area are starving to death due to non availability of anything to feed upon as the entire fields are submerged.
