The state of Kerala known for 100 percent literacy rate is soon going to add another feather by becoming the state with having 100 percent internet connectivity. The proposal will be technically powered by BSNL by taking support from Kerala State Electricity Board. As per the plan each house in Kerala will be provided 1 GB of free data and post 1 GB it will be charged as per the plans. The major difficulty faced by the mobile operators for spreading their reach to the remote areas in the state was the difficulty to provide cable to such remote areas. The KSEB is already having access to all those locations so they will be providing their electrical posts so that the mobile network cable can be reached to each and every corner of the state. When Kerala state is giving their support for BSNL to spread their network, BSNL will in return provide free internet to every house. This is first of its kind joint venture by the state government and a mobile operator.
