What influenced you to be a DJ?
Music is always something that inspired me. From my childhood, I used to be interested in any kind of music played. I was introduced to classic rocks like Beatles, Beeges, etc. from the late 60s and 70s when I was a kid. Later when I was in Chennai, I used to visit the DJ parties and watch them play music and make the crowd groove to their beats. Being an aerobic fitness trainer, I used to play music to keep the energy intact and live. Hearing me play it and mix it well, many of them who visited my training session also encouraged me to be a DJ. Overall I enjoyed playing the beats and influencing the crowd. Being passionate about any kind of music and watch the crowd groove to my beats, thrusted my passion to become a DJ and here I am a DJ.
What is the difference in DJ ying then and now?
DJ ying has evolved from my time to now. The present technology is very much supporting for new DJs, compared to my time, when cassettes were used to now, where all you need is a laptop and the mixer to become a DJ. When I began to DJ, I used to set the position on the spool of cassettes and then play it to the audience, lots of hard work involved then. Now with technology, the difficulty has come to a lesser point. Nowadays music is readily available on your laptop and the technologically advanced equipment’s make DJ’ying quite booming. Things are changing with technology, and we all are getting adapted to it.
