Sound designing in movies was not so relevant or noticed part in the film industry until Resool Pookutty won the Oscars in 2009. So why was or why is sound design or mixing was not given the relevance in the Indian movie industry on par with Editing or Direction or Screenplay ?
I would like to borrow the words of my senior designers here. They all say that a movie is 50% visual and 50% sound. You won’t be able to enjoy a movie without sound. Sound makes a movie more live and realistic. So of course, sound is relevant. But Sound is still seen or considered as a subconscious element in movies, so audience won’t notice it much.
Your major projects completed so far.
Beyond the clouds, Dangal, Haider, Talvar, Barfi and 10 other films too. I worked on many short films as sound designer. One of my short film ’Aaba’ directed by Amar Kaushik has won the best short film award from Berlinale and Aspen and from many other festivals too. It got best short film National award too.
