Pritishree Dash, who is a final year law student made into news before when she launched Code Red an NGO which is functioning in Kochi in aid of supplying sanitary napkins to child care institutes in and around Kochi. Her college mates, Ayushi Dangre and Sara Fathima are also assisting her on this project which started by collecting pads from her hostel mates.

The project grew bigger and bigger with the help of social media, sponsors etc. Code Red at present serves 4 child care institutes in Kochi and recently they have swapped to sanitary pads manufactured by Kudumbashree groups, a women empowerment group under Government of Kerala as they want the money they collect to reach to this kind of small woman group which will be helpful for them too.

There is no point in blaming the system and saying that it’s our government which should be responsible for the safety of women, of course as a citizen of India; safety is our basic constitutional right but it’s also our duty to raise and act on any such anti-social activities instead of keeping it as secret and thinking what others will think about you if you reveal it to public. Pritishree Dash dared and shared her story on a public media and this will definitely give at least a few percentages of women the courage to respond. There may be many cases were help didn’t came at the right time and the unwanted happened but the difference lies in the courage to speak up to the world and fight till the responsible people are inside the bars so that they won’t spoil someone else’s life again.
