Step ahead to the ironman age, Hybrid Assistive Limb

It’s not at all a fictitious story anymore, ironmen are getting to ground for the play. They are here to heal, for the defense and at the rescue. The skeleton that supports a body from outside is Exoskeleton. Hybrid Assistive Limb , a powered Exoskeleton or exosuit is a wearable mobile machine which is hydraulic powered or by means of pneumatics, electric motors or a combination of technologies that allow more efficient limb movements with strength and endurance.
The suit named Hardiman was the first exoskeleton in the sense of being a mobile machine integrated with human limb movements was co-developed by General Electric and the United States Armed with the use of Hardiman, lifting 110 kilograms (250 lb) was felt like lifting 4.5 kilograms (10 lb). Hardiman was powered by hydraulics and electricity, the suit allowed the wearer to amplify their strength by 25 percent.

Hardiman Exo-skelton

Even though exoskeletons could be widely used in the field of military and rescue operations, major impact of such human body integrated machines is on the realm of health. Exoskeletons can be considered as a major breakthrough in the field of rehabilitation engineering technology. For rehabilitation of stroke or spinal cord injured patients with restricted movements, exoskeletons can provide almost any range movements with greater ease. The normal like limb movements not just helps to improve the muscle strength; it helps in the strengthening of signals through the neuromotor pathways. Many interesting researches are being done in this field and here comes a practical solution for Japan.
