I sat there as the credits rolled out on the huge screen. The film had come to a close and I started laughing listening to the last couple of lines in the movie. I couldn’t help it, not that anything was just comical about the movie but the fact that a movie like Super Deluxe can actually make you sit back and feel so elated ! It made me laugh, tear up, overwhelmed, happy and revolted too again all of this for each of the characters on screen! I saw it all as if I was inside the screen and looking around me! I walked out of the theatre, dazed but oddly smiling, I felt happier and lighter by all accounts ! I quickly whipped out my phone and googled about the director, who is this guy!!! Out pops this,
“Thiagarajan Kumararaja is an Indian film director and screenwriter. He made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed gangster film Aaranya Kaandam (2011), which earned him the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director at the 59th National Film Awards.”Aha no wonder !
What a movie Good God! Super Deluxe is a movie not to be missed and I officially adore Vijay Sethupathi! It speaks of the basic truth of life that we are all one and the same… One line that caught me was, when one of the characters says this ,”Our bodies are made up of so many atoms and molecules,each cell in our body has a unique individuality , yet together they still comprise of you as a whole!” Beautiful isn’t it? Hats off to the screenplay writers of this movie (Reportedly directors Nalan Kumarasamy, Mysskin and , Neelan K Sekhar co-wrote it along with the director) for many such golden snippets and punch dialogues.
Such an enlightening movie, jarring us awake out of our mindless stupor and telling us that life has many truths to offer but a single one defines the rest of it! Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan, Samantha , Mysskin(one of the screen writers as well) , Gayathrie , Bagavathi Perumal all have sealed it with such scintillating performances too , so much that you won’t be able to figure out who is better!
Vijay Sethupathi stands out so markedly and the man is a powerhouse of a talent reservoir !
His voice reverberates in your heart even after the movie closes! Some of the dialogues not just his but others’ as well are stellar !
Vijay Ram, Naveen, Jayanth, Ashwath Ashokkumar are relatively not so familiar names but watch out for the teenage kids who open the movie and also for Raaskutty an adorable one at that! I could have hugged him! Thank you Thiagarajan sir for waiting and simmering for five long years before coming out with this gem of a movie!
