Becoming the group owner or admin in the Whatsapp or Facebook won’t be that easy hereafter. As per the new rule if in any fake news are being promoted or shared among the social media then the group administrator will be solely responsible for the same and FIR can be released against the group administrator by charging legal case under cyber-crime law, Information Technology Act
There are more than 200 million Whatsapp users and 213 million Facebook users in India which is the second in world after U.S.A. Due to this immense popularity of the social media in the country, anything spread through this media will be rapidly reaching to all corners of the country in a matter of seconds. So it’s obvious that even fake news can be created and circulated through this media. As per the new rule If any statement, photograph or video is made by a group member which is fake and can cause religious and social issues, the group admin must deny it on the group and remove the member from the group and if the group admin is not action on this then if the post made by the particular group member causes any social anarchy or issue then the Group admin will be the one answerable. At present the rule is implemented at Varanasi district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. But it can soon be expected in our states too as the rate of fake posts, morphed photos and false news are increasing in social media which results in the character assassination of many innocent people.
